The below covenant reflects our team commitment to serve the Lord and each other, reflecting the love of Christ through our words and actions.
Church of the Ascension
Mission to Brazil – July 2011, Team Covenant
As we embark on this mission that we feel called to by the Lord, we establish this covenant with each other and the Lord regarding how we will act and interact with each other for the sake of the mission. By signing below we commit ourselves to the following:
- Philippians. 2:5-11. As Jesus came as a humble servant, we will seek to serve one other humbly and joyfully in the name of the Father.
- Philippians. 2:14-15. As Paul directed the church in Philippi we will seek to “do everything without complaining or arguing.
- Hebrews 13:17, John 6:35-40. As Jesus was obedient in submitting to the will of His Father and out of respect for our leaders we will submit to those in authority over us “so that their work will be a joy, not a burden.”
- Genesis. 1:26-28. God has bestowed on each one of us dignity and love, having made us in His image. In view of this great honor, we will show others their inherent dignity by respecting and serving in love. This includes upholding their emotional, physical, and spiritual safety.
- Rev. 21:1-5. Because of the promised fullness of the reign of God on Earth and in Heaven, we will purse the reign of God in our personal and corporate life before, during, and after the trip.
